Snugpak Response Pak has been described as "an emergency, bugout camping bag" and I couldn't have put it better myself, so I didn't.
This the Response Pak it comes in Black or Olive Green and is a highly regarded bit of kit by all types of followers from Bushcraft dudes to Birdwatching fellows to Survivalist nutters (hello, thats me) who need to have certain essentials in one place.
When there is a Need to "Bugout" as they say stateside or as we say in Blighty, "Get the F**k out of here" it's comforting to know you have everything you need to survive in one handy place. As long as you keep that in Grabbing distance, you're laughing.
Or, being slightly more realistic, when you have to be someplace where Bordom may be a major factor and you need all those Man Toys to keep you from going mad.
In my case it's a solid selection of reading material, audio visual input, energising treats, brewing up essentials incase one finds oneself in the company of heathens with nothing but Maxwell house and Sweetex.
I've tried to get as much into the pack as possible and found I have had room for more. When completely stuffed it tends to be a bit too heavy for wearing as a Bumbag (god forbid) and is usually slung over the shoulder.
I have yet to be seen carrying it around as its been in the boot of the car or within my backpack, all organised, but I will tell you what I have in it and those Bushcrafty types will surely mock me and my selections, but I can assure you, I have no need for trapping small critters, or fishing, so those types of things are lacking. To each his own, stick in it what ever is you want.
Within my Snugpak Response Pak you will find the follwing: Notebook, Sony Reader, PDA, iPod Mini, Pen, Sharpie, Ussen Hat, Ussen Coolmax Gloves, Hand Sterilizer, Tissues, Paracord, Gerber Multitool, Compass, Magnifying Glass, Smith Pocket Pal, Turboflame Lighter, Firesteel, Pentax 8x24 Binos, Olbas Oil, Tee tree oil, Small First Aid kid, Pack of Cards, Led Lenser P7, Travel Toothbrush & paste, Pentax Optio S5i, 2 Glolwsticks, Betalight, Swisstech Solar torch, Spare Contact Lenses, Spork Ti, Columbian Coffee, Sugar, Fishermans Friends, Kendle Mint Cake (not really, it makes my teeth hurt) and a Mars Bar.
Now, that is by no means a comprehenisive list of what anyone should put in a Response Pak, it's just what's in mine, at the moment. That could change at a moments notice as I do have a few other packs and bags to play with. Oh and the Brewing up kit and cup is usually with my Ghillie Kettle and I don't carry a Mug or Mess Tin around with me in the Pak as thats over doing it for my needs.
What makes the Snugpak Response Pak different from the other Packs I have at my disposal is, you can add to it using the MOLLE system. So if you have cartridge cases, ammo pouches and such like, this is the place to stick em.
It's very well made, designed in England and made in (wait for it) China. Hey, it's really good though and Snugpak usually make their stuff in the UK, they must have been a bit busy making top notch Sleeping Bags of which I am a BIG Fan on and have had a Softie 12 for the best part of 20 years and it's done me proud Worldwide. If you need a Great sleeping bag, call me, I'll sort you out.
Where was I? Forgot, anyway. Get this pak if you are a Bloke who likes more stuff than will fit in his pockets (Cargo pants included) and want something butch and bumbaggy. If you're a girl and you're thinking of getting one, you'll be pleased to know it does NOT come in Pink.
