The Gentle Art of Liquid Dancing & Glowsticking
Glow stick dancing, how do you do it?
First, dont take it too seriously!
Glow stick dancing , Liquid Dancing, waving glowsticks around like a Looney, call it what you will. Is something that I have been doing for some time now, and I am always being asked how to do it by other ravers, clubbers and anyone who is interested.
Now, I am not saying that I am much good at it myself, but I do manage to get a few compliments throughout the night.

I have looked on the net for information about how to Dance with glowsticks properly, and so far I have had no luck. So I will attempt to explain the basic move. If you have got this far in reading my ramblings and are with me so far I will continue, well done, you don't give up easily, that's a good start.
How do I hold the Glowsticks?
Usually the way most folks seem to hold their glow sticks is this. Hold out your hand, palm down, then place the glow stick under the index (Pointing) finger and the Little finger, and on top of the middle two fingers. Holding it this way will give you the best grip and best visibility.
Of course this is only an example, really, you should hold the glowsticks however you feel comfortable with them, and so you don't knock your eyes out, or anyone elses for that matter.
Let me just point out here that I do not take all this very seriously, I just do it for fun and it is good exercise for the upper body and believe me I need it.
What is the basic glowstick dancing move?
The figure 8 is the most important move, because if you get it wrong, you can tie yourself in knots and look silly. Get it right and it allows you to twirl the glow sticks very close together, so you can then cross over to another move.
Now all you need do is practice making a figure eight with your leading hand (left or right, the choice is yours) Hold your arm out with your elbow slightly bent, use your wrist movement only, and imagine the face of a clock, Start at 12 then 1,2 and across to 8,7,6,5, 4 and up to 10, 11, 12, 1,2 and then repeat.
Eventually You should have a nicely flowing figure eight. Some people try this for around 10 seconds then give up. (Its a little like tapping the top of your head while rubbing your tummy. Very confusing to some people at first, but when you get the hang of it, its easy. Like anything) Once you have this flowing with your leading hand, nice and smooth, then you can try to follow with your other hand. Now I must point out that BOTH hands will follow the same sequence, only one hand follows the other.
OK, I can do that, but there must be more to it.
Yes, please try to remember you are doing your moves to the music, its not a high speed competition, just do what you feel is right and you will have your own style. Instead of looking like everyone else. Remember its call Liquid Dancing for a reason, your supposed to Flow. But even then, there is nothing wrong with just waving them in the air and enjoying your self. Do what you like. Really, no one minds. Honest.
I hope you have found this helpful, like I say I am not to good at describing these things, but if you can come up with a better way of explaining it and other moves, I welcome your input and I will of course give you all the credit too.
Have fun,
PLUR,
Doc.

Hey Doc,
I think i have developed a new move for you. I get a lot of comments on it.
here goes... If you hold the glowsticks in your hands like you explained and then have one hand follow the other in the figure eight pattern you can do no other movement than that with your hands and just move your arms around your body while you move your body as though you were break dancing. It's easy and it also looks really cool.
Thanx for your time,
