About Doc and GlowGadgets.com
"GlowGadgets.com started off in 2001 as an original idea by my girlfriend Jane. We tried loads of different names for the website, but chose this one because we searched different Search Engines for "GlowGadgets" and nothing came up, anywhere. It was so original, we went for it, and here we are. Now do a search and you will see every glow company and their dog using it as a way to attract visitor to their websites. Bless their cotton socks, we ain't big, but they look up to us you know. Back then, Jane wanted me at home (when I wasn't out raving), where she could keep an eye on me. After all that time in front of my PC, making the website, fulfilling orders, keeping my customers happy, having babies (Jane helped a bit) etc.. She sometimes wishes she kept her big mouth shut. Bless her, I couldn't do it any of it without her. To cheer Jane up I say Ah, she does laugh as she's slapping me round the head with a Laserpod."
WHO OWNS GLOWGADGETS.com"Doc" is the owner and web slave (there are NO Web Masters) of GlowGadgets.com Doc has been his nick name since school (1979 infact). His real name is Chris Taylor. Though, everyone who is anyone call's him Doc... you're someone aren't you?.
The picture is of Doc. Some people have said that it has almost put them off buying from the site. I think it has something to do with that Hand he has growing on the side of his head. Darn those Experiments, it puts me off. Cheeks like a Gerbil too, bless. Quality Products + Prompt Delivery + Excellent Customer Service + Hassle Free Returns + Reliability & Piece of Mind = GlowGadgets.comWhat is GlowGadgets?GlowGadgets is a thriving family business. Doc wanted to become self employed so he could be with his two beautiful baby daughters Rosie (18 months) and Molly (Two and a half) as much as possible. He didn't want to miss out on their growing up. He was there from conception (phew, lucky that) to both Births, First Green Ucky Nappies, First Solid food, First Words, First Steps, First Everything and thanks to GlowGadgets.com he hasn't missed any of it. He's glad he packed in his world travels, late nights, parties, raves and other stuff, to be with them around the clock. GlowGadgets was nothing but a dream for years, and he never thought it would happen. He was entertaining in Venues around the World and never got the chance to sit down in front of a PC, until 1998. He still performs shows, but he is very choosy where and for whom, and usually likes to get back home in time for Breakfast.
Why does the Website look... Homemade?Because it is homemade. Truth be told, Doc started GlowGadgets without a bean, not a penny. What money he had from Entertaining had always paid for Flights, Hotels, Booze etc.. He lived out of a travel bag for 12 years! Then he decided to do the site, it was just to see if he could make a website. It stared off with Microsoft Front page (arrggghh) and slaved away making truly awful web pages for three years. Then he got a version of Dreamweaver (Bliss) and it made life a lot easier. So no, it's not the most stunning and technically advanced website you could find. But it works, and boy has it taken a lot of time. Hundreds of pages all done by hand. Every image, graphic, font and paragraph is by Doc (including this one, talking about yourself in the third person is very weird). But, that's not what GlowGadgets is about. It's about the next bit.. Why should anyone buy from GlowGadgets.com?Doc likes to make sure that he has happy customers. He likes to serve the way he likes to be served. Usually in a very friendly, casual, informed and informal manner. Doc says "This is what I want when I buy anything from anywhere, and do the same for my customers: 1, To know that what I am ordering is infact the very item that I want, and not something that I will be disappointed with.
2, To know that what I order is going to cost me what it says on the website, and not more by the time I get to checkout.
3, To know that what I have paid for is going to arrive before I start wondering where it has got to, and if it's ever going to show up.
4, To know that, what I get when it arrives, it is exactly what the website said it would be, and do what is claimed to do, and if batteries are needed they will be included. I don't want to start looking for batteries that will fit the darn thing. And there is nothing worse than getting all excited about my new gadget and when it arrives, it doesn't work.
5, To know that if I am not satisfied with the product for whatever reason, that I can return it within 30 days for an exchange, credit note or full refund. I would try it out as soon as getting it, and if it was not up to scratch, I'd be on the phone. I want to hear "Sorry about that, no problem, we will sort it out" and then they do.
6, To know that my personal details will not be shared, given, sold, rented, to any third party. And that I will not get spammers sending me offers of all kinds of crap, all because I gave my email address during checkout.
7, To know that if I have any problems with the product within 12 months of purchase, I can rely on the retailer to help me get it fixed, replaced or returned to manufacture with the minimum of hassle.
8, To know that mistakes happen, and the retailer is only human and will admit to those mistakes, and make good. Rather than make excuses. I want to hear " I was wrong, what would you like me to do to correct it"
9, To know that if I am buying something as a gift, the retailer will help the person I bought it for, if they come to him with a problem (I would expect the retailer to ask for proof of purchase, at very least who bought it, with an address )
10, To know that when I recommend the retailer to my friends, that he will treat them the same way he did me, so my friends will be happy that I showed them a great place to shop. They get all the above benefits, and I get the Kudos."
"When you call GlowGadgets, you're dealing with the Boss, direct. Not some telesales person who couldn't care less about you or your order."
Why "GlowGadgets"?Easy, Doc is a male and his theory goes like this: "There are three stages of a males life, The First stage (Early Years) is when he sees things (Gadgets, Toys etc) he wants, but is far too young to be able to afford them, as he relies on others to buy them or give them. Like at Christmas and Birthdays, as a kid waiting for that truly unrealistic, overpriced, pointless toy that no parent in their right mind would ever waste their hard earned cash on. He is always disappointed when he gets a pair of socks, or a book or a school bag or whatever. These are perfectly normal presents, but not what he wants. So, he is unsatisfied and bitter. The Second Stage (The Middle Years) is when he is an Adult, he has money and deep down he hears the sound of the Small Boy asking for all the things he couldn't have. All those toys and gadgets that he wanted as a kid are now bigger, brighter, cleverer, more technical and aching to be owned by that little boy. The Man acts as a Father figure (to himself as a boy) and buys these things, just because it's what the little kid would have wanted. Even though he doesn't need any of them! Women should understand this need. Girls, use it to your advantage. Treat the little boy and the Man will do anything for you. What about the Third Stage? Well, I'm not there yet, but I have friends who are (Old People) who are surrounded by all this stuff and can't remember what it's for. They tell me that they probably shouldn't have bought all that pointless crap in the Second Stage. But it did seem to make them happy at the time, and now it's a collectable item and worth something and they are thinking about putting it on "Flog It" or maybe eBay. Then go on holiday with the proceeds. What is the point, for gods sake? If it makes you feel good, get it. It may seem like crap to other people, but they are not you. And when you are Old, you will have had your Fun and you will be able to sell it all at a Bootsale to some young bloke who is in his Second Stage (Or just give it to a Kid in his First Stage, and screw my Theory right up) |
